The event will be held at and in collaboration with the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design.
  Detailed Event / Project Description

An evening of fashion and epicurean delights with special awards to honor the Eco Chic movement, recognizing and creating awareness of the importance of respecting the environment. The Greater Washington, DC regional chapter will honor stars and rising stars who embrace ecology in the pursuit of excellence in fashion, beauty, art, architecture and interior design. The event will be held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010—on the eve of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day (registered official Earth Day recognition event). Our coordinated efforts to create awareness of the Eco Chic movement now will be recognized by future generations as reaching the next level of global environmental awareness. After the cocktail reception featuring an informal fashion show of the latest Eco Chic designs, guests will be escorted to the auditorium for the preeminent Eco Chic awards ceremony. The evening will conclude with guests enjoying organic coffee and chocolates and receiving a gift bag filled with Eco-themed products supplied by the sponsors and members of Fashion Group. The event has the support of Matilda Lee, author of Eco Chic: The Savvy Shopper’s Guide to Ethical Fashion and the Consumer Affairs Editor of The Ecologist magazine. Ms. Lee is also part of the team behind Estethica, London Fashion Week’s ethical fashion exhibition. Additionally, featured in the awards ceremony remarks will be a spokesperson representing over 100 federal programs encouraging, assisting and promoting sustainable manufacturing. A panel of experts, including a member from the Corcoran Gallery of Art and one from the the Corcoran College of Art + Design, will jury the nominations for the Rising Stars.
